ChAFTA - 20 December Confirmed

The Hon Andrew Robb AO MP | Minister for Trade and Investment has announced the ChAFTA will enter into force on 20 December 2015, click here to view the media release.

Australian Importers and Exporters can now take advantage of Year 1 reductions providing the products are eligible for preferential tariff treatment under ChAFTA.

BAF Decrease - USA & Canada to Australia

Direct service carrier Hamburg Sud has announced the following surcharge decreases effective 1st January 2016 for all containers ex USA & Canada to Australia.

  • Bunker Adjustment Factory (BAF) - decreasing from USD 478/20' & USD 956/40' to USD 353/20' & USD 706/40'
  • Emission Control Area Surcharge (ECA) - decreasing from USD 33/20' & USD 54/40' to USD 23/20' & USD 46/40'

These surcharges are monitored on a quarterly basis and adjustments are usually made following the carrier's review period.
