Verified gross mass of containers

Effective 1st July 2016, international maritime law will mandate the verification of gross mass of any packed/laden container as a pre-condition to it being loaded on board a ship.

The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations prescribes two methods by which the shipper may obtain the verified gross mass of a packed container:

Method 1
Upon the conclusion of packing and sealing a container, the shipper may weigh, or have arranged that a third party weighs, the packed container.

Rate Restoration - NE Asia to Australia

Ocean carriers, OOCL (www.oocl.com) & NYK (www.nykline.com.au) have announced a "Rate Restoration" to all containers moving ex North East Asia (including China, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan) to all Australian ports.

The increase will apply from 1st July 2015 and amounts are expected to be as follows:

USD 300.00 per 20'
USD 600.00 per 40'
